In his memory...

Unlike other journalists, Daniel didn't earn his reputation because of his great work, but because of his death. He was killed by a group of terrorists that were affiliated with some attacks from 9/11. After his death a book called "At Home in the World" was published. Its a collection of his writings from the Wall Street Journal that was put together by Helene Cooper and Mariane Pearl- Daniel's wife. Daniel Pearl is now buried in Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in L.A, Cali.

His Death

Daniel Pearl was kidnapped by a group that called themselves "The National Movement For the Restoration Of Pakistani Sovereignty” while in Karachi, Pakistan investigating a convicted shoe bomber-Richard Reid. A man named Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh Kidnapped Pearl. Another man named Khalid Sheikh Mohammad confessed to the actual be-heading of Daniel Pearl with his "blessed" right hand. There is a graphic video of his death available. During the video it shows him talking about himself and then his in-humane death follows. (Abducted January 23, 2002.) His death was confirmed February 21st, 2002.

Background of Daniel Pearl

Daniel Pearl-October 10th,1963-was born in Princeton, New Jersey. He was attended Stanford University for four years. He was very involved in things such as co-founding a student newspaper called the "Stanford Commentary". He was very known for writing "A-heads" ('colorful" pieces that were printed down the center of the front page of the paper.) He graduated as a communication major and a Phi Beta Kappa honors.

After he graduated, he was an intern for a summer. He later then got a job at The Wall Street Journal Atlanta Bureau. he later than advanced to the Washington DC's bureau to do "Telecommunications." And lastly moved to the journal's London Bureau, where he met his wife- Mariane Van Neyenhoff. After marrying a year later, they moved to Mumbai where Daniel was hired as the Journal's South Asia Bureau chief. His wife Mariane gave birth to Adam Daniel Pearl the right after Daniel's death in 2002.
